Review:

Wow!!  Renaissance of the Heart is one of the best books I've read in a long time.  It will resonate with your heart and soul.  Amanda's journey of self discovery and coping with devastating events and self worth is so real, so powerful.  It is something that I think every woman deals with and has to get past.  We have a tendency base our self worth on how everyone else looks at us or treats us.  

This book just spoke to my soul.  It had me evaluating myself.  I haven't gone through a divorce like Amanda but I watched my mom go through one when I was Lily's age.  It is so hard and changes a person.  I don't know where the strength comes from to come out a better person, a loving person.  My mother did it, and has been able to forgive my father. 

The characters are so real.  It was like I was Amanda.  I felt everything she went through, the heartbreak, the love, everything.  I was on an emotional roller coaster reading this book that I couldn't get off of.  I couldn't put the book down because I was so invested in the characters and what was happening.  If you can immerse yourself in books like me, you better have the kleenex ready.

On another note, the book reminded me so much of a friend.  She is from Pittsburgh and a die hard Steelers fan.  I always had that image, that so many do, that Pittsburgh was a dirty steel town with no real beauty.  My friend always told me that it was a wonderful city and this book proves that point.

I give this book 5+ stars.  It is a wonderful book, and proves that we shouldn't base our self worth on others and that we need to believe in ourselves.  I love that it is a book about an older woman (40) but this book is for women of all ages.  I think that every woman should read this book.  It isn't just romance.  It is self discovery.    There is some mature content but it is not real graphic in these details.  However, some parents won't want their teenagers to read the book because of this.

I will be suggesting this book to everyone!!  I can't wait to see what else Lori Jones writes!!

About the Author

Lori M. Jones is an author of women's & children's fiction. She released her first children's book, RILEY'S HEART MACHINE, in the fall of 2012 through Guardian Angel Publishing and her second children's book, CONFETTI THE CROC, in 2014. Her debut novel, RENAISSANCE OF THE HEART, was released by Soul Mate Publishing in 2014. Her flash fiction pieces have placed in several contests and both novels have received awards in first chapter contests.

Lori resides in Pittsburgh with her husband, two young daughters and Disco the dog.  Her youngest daughter's heart defect was the inspiration behind Riley's Heart Machine. Lori is currently on the national Board of Directors for the Children's Heart Foundation and the president of Pennsylvania Chapter. She travels to schools and libraries delivering talks about the inspiration behind Riley's Heart Machine and how we can all embrace what makes us special. Lori enjoys rooting for her Pittsburgh sports teams and participating in 5K runs.
