The first is the unveiling of Silverbacks brand new series “Silverbacks Present.” These improv comedy shows will take place on Second Saturdays during ArtWalk, at Cite Des Arts. Taking over Cite’s back theater, Silverbacks will perform with other local improvisers and comedians, as well as experiment with their usual format. This new addition to Downtown’s ArtWalk will create a comedy hotspot. Grab a drink from Cite’s bar to complete the evening of fun with friends.

The first show, on April 12, will feature local comedic actress and educator Lian Cheramie. Cheramie will tell true tales from her life, and the improv performers will play off of her tales. Silverbacks hope to feature other local members of our community in this new format, “Lafayette Famous” during the ArtWalk shows.

More Details:

Improvisation is a performance phenomenon that took off in the 1950’s at Chicago’s Second City, and has grown ever since. Most people recognize improvisation from the television show “Whose Line Is it Anyway?” In improvisation, the performers take suggestions from the audience, and improvise – that is to say, completely make up from scratch – scenes and scenarios based on those suggestions. The Silverbacks also feature a keyboardist playing live improvised music to accompany the scenes. The style of the Silverbacks is often intellectually stimulating while providing belly laughs at the same time.
